Speculative Tourism is an international project that operates at the crossroads of science fiction, historical tourism, Augmented Reality and local action. The goal of the project is freeing the political imagination, while shedding light on local identities and reacquainting ourselves with our lived environments; we use fiction and speculation to reveal different ways of taking responsibility for our habitats and our future.
Through bespoke writing workshops, scenario planning and imagination exercises, Speculative Tourism supports the production of guided tours describing future perspectives and events that have not yet happened.
The literary style and the narration sometimes mimics tours of the type found in regular tourist apps, and sometimes simulates other public situations – such as protest marches, press tours, journalistic reports, and more.
This version of the workshop will focus on the community around The Overkill and its context of Enschede. No special background or material needed to join the workshop.
